8th Grade Boston Trip
Monday November 7 – Thursday November 10
The 8th Grade Boston trip is designed to make history come alive as students experience many of the places they study in their American History class. Students will complete a project based on their itinerary while they are on the trip and submit their completed project, to be graded, at the conclusion of the trip via their iPad. Among the places visited are: Lexington, Concord, Harvard University,Freedom Trail, Old North Church, Paul Revere’s House, Walden Pond, Plimoth Plantation, Plymouth Rock, The Mayflower, Salem and the Kennedy Library. WorldStrides, a tour company specializing in student travel, is arranging the trip for the 14th year. Because Tampa Prep greatly values experiential education in our curriculum, the school has subsidized a portion of the cost. Although the actual cost of the trip is $1,599, the cost to you will be $1,125. The trip includes roundtrip airfare, accommodations, meals, tours and night-time security guards at the hotel. Instead of requiring full payment from you immediately, Tampa Prep will issue the total check to WorldStrides and bill your account in three installments of $375 in September, October and November. Parent Meeting is Thursday, October 6 at 9:00 am in the Student Center. The Boston trip is an integral part of the eighth grade curriculum and the expectation is that all students participate. Therefore, if you anticipate your child is unable to travel, it is imperative that you contact Joe Fenlon by July 1. Plane reservations for all students are made in July for best pricing.
