The Terrapin
Fund

Our students–your students–are modeling philanthropic leadership in the local community by raising funds for organizations through their clubs and special interest groups. As the School’s primary community-wide fundraising endeavor, the Annual Fund is your opportunity to model that same philanthropic leadership by giving to a cause that directly impacts your own household. We thank all of our generous donors for contributions that allow Tampa Prep to INSPIRE NEXT.

Terrapin Fund FAQ

While the Terrapin Fund is a critical source for the School’s operating budget, it also provides important enrichment, including professional development opportunities for our faculty, updated curriculum, new athletic equipment, A/V and technology upgrades for our classrooms, arts program supplies and so much more.

The Terrapin Fund is the School’s primary community-wide fundraising endeavor. It is our hope that, as a member of the community, you will participate in this fundraising initiative at least once throughout the academic year in a way that is meaningful to you. It consists of three main events – the Fall Kick-Off Campaign, The Gala, and Day of Giving

The Terrapin Fund directly impacts every program, department, student and faculty member by contributing to the School’s overall financial health and sustainability. All gifts are deeply appreciated. Unrestricted gifts allow school leadership and the Board of Trustees flexibility to address the highest priority needs of the school.

Tampa Prep is a nonprofit organization that operates without financial support from taxes. The School relies on tuition, annual giving, endowment, and auxiliary income (income from summer camps and facility rentals) to operate and continually improve.

The Terrapin Fund encompasses all three of Tampa Prep’s annual fundraising initiatives, with the Fall Kick-Off Campaign serving as the first and largest opportunity for families to support the school each year. Gifts to the Terrapin Fund have an immediate impact, providing critical resources that support students, faculty, and programs from the very start of the school year. Raising these funds in the fall allows the school to budget confidently and invest in its highest priorities.

Gala and Day of Giving are also important parts of our annual fundraising efforts. If you’re interested in sponsoring the Gala, please reach out to Stephanie Lukasik at [email protected]. If you’re interested in getting involved with Day of Giving please reach out to Margeaux Imperiale.

Yes! In fact many people choose to give this way. Interested in doing so? Read below on how.

Making a gift from your DAF is simple:

Log in to your Donor-Advised Fund account, search for Tampa Preparatory School, and recommend the grant amount you’d like to give.

If available, indicate that your gift should support the Terrapin Fund.

Submit your grant recommendation. Your DAF sponsor will process the gift and send it directly to Tampa Prep.

If your sponsoring organization requests additional information, you may use Tampa Preparatory School’s legal name and tax identification number (EIN), or contact Margeaux Imperiale or call 813-559-8867.

Tampa Prep is a 501(c)(3) organization as determined by the IRS. Your gifts may qualify for a charitable deduction as allowable by law. We recommend that you consult with your financial advisor to understand these tax benefits associated with your charitable giving.

Absolutely! Every gift plays a part in Tampa Prep’s success. Overall donor participation reveals how the school is valued by its constituents, and your gift is an expression of gratitude to the teachers who invest so much in our students. We encourage everyone to make Tampa Prep a philanthropic priority at whatever level they are able whether that be $5 or $50,000.

Many companies offer a matching gift program to their employees as an added benefit. If your company has a matching gift benefit, it could double or even triple your gift to Tampa Prep. Contact your company’s human resources officer to determine whether or not they participate in a matching gift program.
