A Unique School Experience
Students with deep passions and accelerated interests in specific subjects wanted more, so our Academic Concentrations came to be. To respond to our students’ ever-evolving needs, focuses in the Arts, Biomedical, Global Studies, and STEM fields were developed to provide the opportunity for an in-depth exploration of each discipline.
Each program requires students to select classes from relevant coursework that coincide with each interdisciplinary focus—our Academic Concentrations rival college-level curricula. This signature experience has profoundly impacted many alumni’s academic and professional careers after Tampa Prep.

Concentrations FAQs
What does it mean to choose a concentration?
Choosing a concentration means that the student will have additional opportunities to explore one subject more deeply with field trips, experiences and classes.
When can students choose a concentration?
A concentration is only open for application to rising 10th grade students in the spring of their freshman year.
Does my child have to choose and commit to a concentration?
No. We give the option to choose a concentration so that students who have a very strong interest in one area have the opportunity to explore
that subject more deeply.
Do all students choose and commit to a concentration?
No. Historically, about 25% of Tampa Prep students choose a concentration.
What if my child chooses one concentration but then they change their mind?
If they choose a concentration, but then don’t want to continue in it, they don’t have to. However, students cannot switch from one concentration to another.
