The VEX Robotics Competition was held at Tampa Preparatory School on Saturday, November 19, 2022. There were 22 teams competing, with 4 teams from Tampa Prep High School and 1 team from Tampa Prep Middle School. Competition was fierce, and all teams fought hard for the top spots.

In the end, there were 3 trophies awarded to the Tampa Prep teams:

727Gold, captained by Elise B. with members Kat G., Cedric T., Davis S., and Hailley S. won the Excellence Award and was invited to compete in the VEX States Competition.

727Crimson, captained by Casey K. with members Calvin V., Nathan V., Ben B., Jack R., and Luca T., won the Robot Skills Champion Award.

Team 727Bale, captained by Lauren B. with members Stone F., Alex B., Toren C., Lilah S., Simon S., Sonia P., and AJ W., won the Judges Award.

In the Skills portion of the competition, Tampa Prep’s High School teams 727C, 727G, 727R, and 727D ranked 5th, 11th, 29th, and 33rd in the Skills Rankings in Florida, respectively. Tampa Prep’s Middle School team 727B reached the finals in a Cinderella story, running through the eliminations matches with an amazing performance by a standout new driver, Lilah S., with a close match of 63-54, losing by just one heart breaking 10-point roller.

Next up, four teams, with the exception of 727Gold, will compete at VEX USF Bull Run on December 17 to try for more spots in VEX States Championships.

Congratulations to all of the teams for their hard work and excellent performance!
