We believe passionately in failing forward, inclusivity, great friends, vigorous debate, broadened horizons, strong relationships and an entrepreneurial spirit.
(We are also 100% positive the world would be a better place if everyone slept in 30 minutes more.)
Ultimately, it’s our awesome faculty
who are THE POWER OF NEXT!

JOHN SEARY
Middle School Latin Teacher
& Middle School Track Coach
Mr. Seary is teaching himself Russian because he figured if he teaches a language to the students, he should teach one to himself too. He has bowled competitively, and is a member of the United States Bowling Congress with an 11-strikes-in-a-row game and a perfect 300 game. An avid hockey and Tampa Bay Lightning fan, he follows every player on every team.

SUZANNE BEEKMAN
Upper School Science Teacher
& STEM Concentration Coordinator
Mrs. Beekman teaches Physics and Calculus III with Analytical Geometry. She is also an amateur farmer growing broccoli, kale, brussel sprouts, tomatoes, cauliflower, watermelon and more in her backyard. Life lesson: Carefully read the seed package label when it states Mammoth Sunflowers grow up to 12’. Mrs. Beekman is 5’9”, and that sunflower is not done growing yet!

DOUG SMITH
History & Social Sciences Chair
& Varsity Boys Soccer Coach
In college, Mr. Smith was captain of the University of Maryland soccer team, and later become a pro player. He also is an attorney who practiced criminal defense with the Public Defender’s Office in Hillsborough County. Many people ask him if it was difficult defending someone accused of a crime, but he always viewed his job as essential to safeguarding his clients’ constitutional rights.
