Tampa Prep’s Model UN Club recently attended the 21st annual GATORMUN Conference, January 19 – 21 in Gainesville, hosted by the University of Florida Model United Nations Club, and brought home FIVE awards!

GATORMUN provides a learning experience unlike any other by breaking from the traditional classroom setting to transform high school students into experts on pressing international issues. For the weekend, students become delegates in important international forums addressing complex global issues such as preventing the spread of diseases, defending human rights, and upholding justice in the international system.

We are so proud of all the students’ hard work and dedication and we commend their research, writing skills, verbal communication skills, and most of all, their interest in some of the most challenging issues facing our global society today. We are so proud of every student who participated in this conference!
Out of 901 delegates from across the State of Florida, Tampa Prep won the following high awards:
Ryan Szymanski ’27: Best Position Paper (Grenada/UN Small Island Developing States Conference)
Reed Wilson ’25 & Talia Johnsingh ’26: Best Position Paper (Estonia/UN Habitat Committee)
Elissa DiPierro ’24: Verbal Commendation (Francesca Rossi/Security and Ethics Committee on the Regulation of Emerging Technologies)
