Kevin M. Plummer
Head of School
Kevin became the seventh Head of Tampa Preparatory School in July 2007. His roots dive deeply into the Tampa Bay community as a member of the Executive Advisory Council for the MUMA College of Business at USF as well as the USF Bellini Center for Talent Development and is also the Immediate past Chairman for the Tampa Downtown Partnership. He also proudly serves on the following Boards:
- Moffitt Cancer Center
- WEDU
- Friends of the Riverwalk
- Straz Center for the Performing Arts
- Tampa Downtown Partnership Executive Steering Committee
Kevin is a member of Bay Area Association of Independent Schools (President from 2009 – 2010), a regular presenter for the Florida Council of Independent Schools, the National Association of Independent Schools and the Vanderbilt Peabody School of Education. Past appointments include the Board of the Enrollment Management Association from 2008 – 2018 (President from 2016 – 2018), the Creative Tampa Bay Board and the George Steinbrenner Boys & Girls Club. Some of his proudest accomplishments at Tampa Prep have been opening the new Genshaft & Greenbaum Building of Learning and Discovery and overseeing a six-year educational space renovation at Tampa Prep with local architects Holmes Hepner and Associates and iConstructors, turning approximately 65K square feet of space into Active Learning Environments.
He is a 1989 graduate of Colby College, where he was named a Lacrosse All-American. Kevin was awarded the highly competitive and prestigious Klingenstein Fellowship at the Teachers College of Columbia University, where he received a Master of Education Administration in 1999. Kevin and Jennifer have a daughter, Galen Grace (’26).
