Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Raj is the proud husband of Tanuja Kotak and father to Nikhil ’26, Dillon ’30, Mischa ’30, and Kira (TBD). To support his passion for family, he provides clinical leadership as the Chief Medical Officer at AdventHealth Carrollwood, assuring the quality and safety of care is delivered with uncommon compassion and includes the whole person (mind, body, and spirit). Prior to becoming a physician executive, he was the Chief of Surgery at AdventHealth North Pinellas and helped increase access to care for Tarpon Springs and surrounding communities. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Raj and Tanuja share a passion for health and well-being and wish to provide Tampa Prep students with a blank canvas to paint their best futures. They feel strongly that giving back to the Prep community is the best way to pay forward the knowledge and opportunities they have been blessed with. This is the framework used to raise their family and bring about awareness for similar opportunities around their community.

Raj enjoys many athletic pursuits related to improving his own health but finds his best enjoyment parenting and traveling with Tanuja. Together, they have explored several domestic and international destinations, and plan to provide experiences that exceed the imaginations of their children.

Raj holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, received his M.D. from St. George’s University, completed his General Surgery residency at Lankenau Medical Center in Wynnewood, PA, and completed a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the University of South Florida.
