Matthew Reed Danahy (“Matt”) is a Tampa native. His roots at Tampa Prep run deep: He is a 1979 graduate of the school, a founding member of the Alumni Association, a member of the Board of Trustees (Board President 2017- 2019), a recipient of the Tampa Preparatory School Distinguished Alumni Award, and a proud parent of two Terrapins: Conor (’17) and Lauren (’18).
After graduating from Tampa Prep, he attended both the University of Florida and Stetson University College of Law. In 1986 he became a member of the Florida Bar and has been a litigator in the field of insurance law since that time.
Matt is Board Certified in Civil Trial Law by the Florida Bar, which is a distinction enjoyed by less than 7% of Florida attorneys. He is also Board Certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) (an invitation only organization of experienced trial attorneys and judges dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the right to jury trial) and is “AV” rated by the Martindale- Hubbel rating service (signifying the highest degree of professional excellence and ethics).
Matt has been honored each year since 2007 by the Florida Super Lawyers Publication for his practice in the field of Insurance Law and selected as one of the Florida Legal Elite in the field of Insurance Law by Florida Trend Magazine (2011, 2012 and 2019).
Matt and his wife Lori live in Hyde Park.
