Middle School ERB Testing

Middle School students will take the Comprehensive Testing Program Test from ERB on Friday, April 21st.   This test is not mandatory, but is highly recommended to use as a benchmark going forward. If your student will not be in attendance, please email Ms. Souza at ksouza@tampaprep.org by March 24, 2023. The battery of tests will only be administered in person.  There are no provisions for on-line administration or make-up days.  Math and Vocabulary ONLY will be administered during students’ regularly scheduled Math and English classes prior to April 21 (Date TBD).   Important Information to know about the Comprehensive Testing Program  What needs to be done ahead of time? Download or update the ERB CTP Online App on the Student’s iPad. iPads need to be fully charged on the morning of the test Contact Suzy Lassacher if you have technology questions.   Research has shown that children work at their optimum potential during standardized testing when they…Get plenty of sleepEat a good breakfastArrive at school in a relaxed and unrushed manner Extended time is allowed to students who have documentation to support this accommodation. Families should contact Sarah Johnson, Academic Support Counselor, for more information if they want to discuss this accommodation.  How does Tampa Prep use the results? The Quantitative Reasoning, Reading and Vocabulary results reveal whether students are at or above grade level and the quantitative reasoning results help appropriately place students in their math classes. The reasoning tests are very good at showing undiscovered or underlying skills in handling higher-order thinking. Should students study for the ERB’s? No. In reality, they have spent their entire academic history preparing for the tests. The CTP is an assessment of student achievement and student potential. The CTP is only one piece of the puzzle, classwork, homework and teacher observations all provide insights into student achievement and potential. Students should not approach the tests with apprehension but instead with a determination to do their best.   If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at ksouza@tampaprep.org.  Best regards,Kim Souza
